TOP 5 COSMETIC PLASTIC SURGERY PROCEDURES
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), almost 18 million people underwent surgical and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures in the United States in 2018.
The ASPS reported that the top five procedures in 2018 were:
Breast augmentation — 313,735 procedures.
Liposuction — 258,558 procedures.
Nose reshaping — 213,780 procedures.
Eyelid surgery — 206,529 procedures.
Tummy tuck — 130,081 procedures.
Breast augmentation
Breast augmentation refers to procedures which increase the size or change the shape of the breasts. Breast augmentation is not the same as breast lifts or breast reduction, which are actually different types of procedures.
Liposuction
It is a process that removes excess fat deposits from body through suction. Through this procedure, patient can enhance his/her body contour and proportion and can ultimately enhance self-image.
Nose reshaping
A nose job, or rhinoplasty, reshape the nose, bringing it into balance with the rest of the face. The surgeon may reduce the overall size of the nose or refine areas of the nose for a more pleasing appearance.
Eyelid surgery
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the eyelids. Surgery can be performed on the upper lids, lower lids or both. Lower eyelids with chronic puffiness or wrinkling are often reduced during the procedure for a more youthful appearance. Fat pads under the eyes causing the appearance of “bags” are removed as necessary in the lower lid procedure.
Tummy tuck
Abdominoplasty, more commonly known as a ‘tummy tuck’, is used to improve the shape of the abdomen. Tummy tucks remove excess fat and skin and restore weakened or separated muscles in the abdomen in order to improve the profile. Tummy tucks can improve the appearance of loose or sagging skin, but cannot remove stretch marks.
